Ten Books Worth Reading in 2020

Today is World Book Day.  If I’m being honest, reading is one of my all time favorite hobbies and has been since I was a young girl. There is just something so exciting about escaping life for a little while and enjoying a good story. In fact, if given the choice, I’d choose reading a good book over watching TV ten times out of ten. Please tell me I’m not the only one.

When choosing a book, there are a few criteria the book must meet.

  1. It has to be a romance novel.  For some reason, this is the only genre I’m really interested in. However, I do enjoy if there is a bit of suspense added in.
  2. The book HAS to be a clean romance.  No terrible language and no steamy bedroom scenes.
  3. The book needs to be at least 200 pages, preferably longer.  I feel like the story is just too rushed, and characters aren’t developed well, if it’s shorter.
  4. The story line needs to take place in modern day.  I can’t do historical romance.
  5. No Vampires, Aliens, Ghosts, etc.
  6. The book needs to really catch my attention within the 1st chapter.  If not, I usually give up on it.

We’ve all heard the phrase, “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover.” I can’t tell you how true this statement is.  One of my all time favorite books (perhaps my favorite book) I almost passed on, because the front cover is just a picture of a Sunflower. It did not scream “Romance” to me. Always read the book description before discounting it.

I know everyone has different tastes when it comes to books, and that’s fine, in fact, it would be pretty boring if we all liked the same things. So, if you aren’t a big fan of the “Clean Romance,” you may not be interested in my top 10 list. However,  if you do enjoy reading from this  genre, I think you’ll fall in love with these books as much as I have.

This list is in no particular order.
